Last year, we introduced you to Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Shop, a special place in Wilmington, North Carolina which employs 40 people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Owner Amy says, “Starting Beau’s coffee hit me like a lightning bolt. I was trying to think of a way to bring the community together and to help people with and without disabilities spend time together.”

Her cafe recently expanded from 500 to 5,000 square feet, and she explains why their mission is so important. “70 percent of people with intellectual disabilities are unemployed. That’s a nationwide statistic. I think we would all agree, having a job makes you feel like you matter. And that’s how we all want to feel,” she says.

Amy and her family dialed into video chat with Rach, who had a big surprise for them — watch what happened when she made Amy a very exciting offer!
