Trevor Jefferson, who works at Beau’s Coffee in Wilmington, North Carolina, got a sweet surprise from pal Lillie Wright in a scene that has become an Internet sensation.

Beau’s has a policy of employing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including 21-year-old Jefferson, who has Down syndrome. The shop is owned by Amy Wright, which means her daughter Lillie, 17, didn’t have to look very far to find a date for her school’s upcoming prom.

In the video, Lillie is seen holding up a sign for him to read: “I like coffee, I like tea. Would you go to prom with me?”

Trevor accepts with an enthusiastic “yes,” and the pair embrace.

Lillie “has always seen the value in every person,” her mother wrote in the caption for the YouTube video of the scene. “Especially Trevor. She couldn’t wait to ask him to prom.”

Amy Wright also spoke to ABC News about her daughter’s decision to ask her longtime pal to the seminal dance.

“Lillie’s decision to ask Trevor was completely natural, she has two siblings with Down syndrome,” Wright said. “Lillie values Trevor as a person and a friend … Everyone at Beau s Coffee loves Trevor and was happy to share in the moment.”
